Caution Note about using EVA FOAM MATS made in China for Floating Wetland

We do not use EVA Foam Mats for our floating wetlands, preferring rather an open architecture structure, made from polyproplyene (see - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polypropylene ) that allows light to penetrate into the water column (unlike foam mats that shade light from the lake) and has significant existing research completed on safety.

EVA Foam Mats, or Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Mats are primarily produced in China. EVA Foam Mats are made from Vinyl Acetate and according to Dow Chemical's product safety sheet Vinyl Acetate is "is considered to be slightly to moderately toxic to aquatic organisms. Considering the health and contamination issues recently seen concerning some imported products, we believe significant research remains before safe use of any 'foam' mat that may breakdown with UV exposure can be relied upon.
